Mark Healey Powers is a governmental affairs specialist whose knowledge of Connecticut’s state and local governments is unsurpassed. He has extensive experience dealing with local, state and federal elected officials and administrative agencies on behalf of his clients.

Mr. Powers was an elected state legislator for 10 years, serving first as a State Representative and later a State Senator. While in the Connecticut Legislature he served as the Senate Chair of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee, Vice Chair of the Judiciary Committee, and Vice Chair of the Energy and Public Utilities Committee. He was also a member of the Legislative Program Review and Investigations Committee.

Mr. Powers was recognized during his tenure in the Legislature as a supporter of measures to improve the state's environment, particularly Long Island Sound. His Senate district included the City of New London and he played a key role in obtaining state funding which enabled the City to plan comprehensively and begin preparations for waterfront developments. He also supported efforts toward a diversified state economy, and was active in regulatory legislation involving the state's insurance and utility industries.

Earlier in his public life he was a member of the East Lyme Board of Selectmen.

Mr. Powers received his Masters degree in public administration from the University of Hartford in 1985. He received his B.S. from Springfield College in 1976. He has attended the Institute for Organizational Management at the University of Delaware.
